How to Nail Halloween 2024: The Top Nail Art Ideas
This year, Halloween nails are bigger, bolder, and eerier than ever. Here are some of the trendiest designs and ideas you can try this season:
1. The Classic Black and Orange
You can’t go wrong with the traditional Halloween colors—black and orange. But instead of solid nails, 2024 is all about taking it up a notch with unique patterns like:
- Pumpkin Faces: Tiny jack-o’-lanterns with glowing expressions.
- Gradient Ombre: Transition from a deep, burnt orange to inky black for a polished yet spooky look.
- Spider Web Accents: Delicate webs stretching across your nails, perfect for those who want a minimal yet festive look.

2. Gothic Romance
Love the drama of Halloween but want a touch of elegance? Gothic romance is your go-to theme for 2024. Think deep reds, blacks, and purples combined with intricate lace designs or blood-drip tips. You could also opt for:
- Vampire Bites: Red accent nails with tiny black fang marks at the cuticles.
- Black Roses: Matte black nails adorned with delicate hand-painted roses in crimson or burgundy.
- Lace Detailing: Paint-on lace designs for a touch of vintage gothic charm.

3. Glow-in-the-Dark Nails
What’s more fun than glow-in-the-dark nails? They’re not only festive but also a conversation starter at any Halloween party. Add a surprise element to your nails with these ideas:
- Glow-in-the-Dark Ghosts: A neutral nail during the day, but at night, ghostly shapes appear.
- Phosphorescent Slime Drips: Paint slime-like drips in neon green that come to life when the lights go out.
- Skeleton Hands: Thin, glowing white lines that resemble skeletal fingers crawling up your nails.

4. Creepy-Cute Kawaii
Not into gore or traditional spook? The kawaii trend brings a playful, cute side to Halloween nail art. Picture pastel ghosts, smiling pumpkins, and tiny bats in a cartoonish style. Perfect for those who want something spooky but sweet!
- Candy Corn Nails: Alternate between pastel yellow, orange, and white to mimic the beloved Halloween treat.
- Mini Monsters: Create cute Frankenstein faces, little mummies, or smiling ghosts on a couple of accent nails.
- Pink Bats: Who says Halloween has to be all black and orange? Pale pink backgrounds with glittery bats keep things cute and festive.

If subtle elegance is your style, then marbled and metallic nails are your perfect Halloween twist. This year, we’re seeing:
- Marble Coffin Nails: Think smoky black-and-white marbling with silver or gold accents.
- Shimmering Metallics: Add metallic gold or silver spider webs to a matte base, or create an ombre from black to shimmering bronze.
- Blood Red Chrome: High-shine chrome in a deep, dark red makes for the ultimate vampire-worthy manicure.

pro tip: Keeping your nails healthy this fall
The cooler temps of fall can dry out your nails, so take care of them. To keep them healthy:
- Use cuticle oil regularly – OPI Repair Mode and Cuccio Naturale Sweet Almond Cuticle Oil are my favourite right now.
- Moisturise your hands with a good cream to combat dryness. Weleda Citrus Hand and Nail Cream is super thick and moisturising , great for the winter months and also smells very fresh.
- Take breaks between manicures to let your nails breathe.
- Always apply a strengthening base coat if you notice any brittleness. My current favourite is the OPI Nail Envy but if you would prefer something more affordable the Sally Hansen Hard As Nails also does a great job too!
